3.6 miles from Willow Grange Farm

The Stretham Old Engine is the last complete survivor of what was once a network of more than 100 similar engines that worked together to form the drainage network all over Cambridgeshire. During the 1800’s these engines fulfilled a role of returning the flood waters from the fields back to the rivers via the ditches and dykes that are characteristic of our fenland landscape. Today run by electricity rather than steam, the Stretham Old Engine is open on selected Sundays and bank holidays between April and October, with a team of volunteers providing a warm welcome and a tour full of stories and living history.

0.5 miles from Willow Grange Farm

This 47 acre site has been voted the best shooting ground in the UK and provides novices and experienced shooters with the space to practice clay target shooting, air rifle, rifle and shotgun, all safely within dedicated ranges. If you’ve always fancied having a try at shooting, advanced booking for ‘Have a Go’ taster sessions is available. Open during the daytime Wednesday to Sunday, this site also includes a shop and café.

Hannam’s Wake Hub and Cambridge Aqua Park

2 miles from Willow Grange Farm

Sharing the same site, Hannam’s Wake Hub and Cambridge Aqua Park is for all of the water lovers and adventures out there! The wake club is great for experienced wakeboarders but also ideal as a fantastic place to learn, with a great team and beginner facilities. If wakeboarding isn’t you thing then Cambridge Aqua Park is alternative water fun for all of the family, complete with giant inflatables, obstacle courses, and all in a safe supervised environment.  Operating seasonally, please check their website for up to date opening hours.

6.5 miles from Willow Grange Farm

This lovely compact country park centres around a network of lakes and has a mixture of wildlife and habitats easily enjoyed well maintained pathways suitable for bikes and wheelchairs. Also offering two playground areas, a visitor centre, café, and hosting activities and events at various times throughout the year (especially during school holidays), this is equally great for a family adventure or peaceful walk and relaxing café stop.

2.1 miles from Willow Grange Farm

This independent museum tells the story of farming and life in the Cambridgeshire Fens from throughout its 850 year history, with hands-on and interactive elements helping to bring the history to life. Sharing its site with Denny Abbey, a beautiful former Benedictine monastery managed on behalf of English Heritage, this is a day out for all of the family. This site is open seasonally, so please check their website for current opening times.

7.1 miles from Willow Grange Farm

Whilst in the area, a trip to the National Trust’s oldest nature reserve is much recommended! See if you can find the Konik ponies and highland cows that are helping with conservation and restoring important peatland habitats, as well as spotting much of the wildlife that calls this reserve home. Have a browse of their shop, grab a bite to eat in their café, hire a bike to explore the cycle tracks on and around the reserve, and maybe even join one of their boat trips to see the reserve from a different angle!

Ely

6.8 miles from Willow Grange Farm

Nestled in the fenland countryside with its magnificent cathedral that proudly intercepts the big open skies for miles around, Ely is a beautiful compact city full of plenty of things to see and do. In addition to an exploration of the cathedral and a visit to some of its many museums, the city hosts lots of independent shops, a waterside area with bars, cafes and galleries, and a proud history as home to Oliver Cromwell and his family for 10 years. It’s easy to fill a day or more in Ely, and with its regular markets you might want to pop back a few times to see more of what this small city has to offer!

8.1 miles from Willow Grange Farm

Ben’s Yard is a new dynamic retail village located near Ely set to open on 30th June 2023. This new go-to destination will champion local businesses and great British brands. Guests will be able to take full advantage of the beautifully designed homeware, a luxury florist, hairdressing, an iconic Ely Cathedral themed playground and a multi-acre event space with marked trails through woodland, fenland and wildflower meadows, all beautifully landscaped on the beautiful 2,500 acre Stuntney Estate. More than just retail, the Ben’s Yard Restaurant offers relaxed yet sophisticated all day dining with an eclectic menu

17.2 miles from Willow Grange Farm

No matter the season, there’s always something to see and enjoy at the Welney Wetland Centre, but this site especially comes alive as many of our migratory birds return for the winter months, filling the sky, land and water with large flocks to behold. A real haven for photographers and bird watchers, this centre also makes a great adventurous day out for families and a romantic walk and picnic location for couples, providing a little something for everyone.

Across Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire has such a plethora of habitats on offer, from ancient woodlands to lakes and gravel pits, meadows to washes and wetland wonders, why not sample a few different areas whilst you’re hear and visit some of the many reserves cared for by the Wildlife Trust. 12.7 miles from Willow Grange Farm

With its roots firmly in its Japanese heritage and using age old skills and techniques, Dojima Brewery handcraft sake at the Fordham Abbey Estate, bringing together its Japanese traditions with purified English water from the Ice Age Strata sitting below the ground here. Book yourselves on to a brewery tour and tasting to discover the production process and find out more about this unique Cambridgeshire brewery.

10 miles from Willow Grange Farm

This city of history, culture, colleges and discoveries is only a matter of minutes from the farm and offers a wide variety of things to see and do. From galleries, museums, theatres and architectural wonders, to picnics, punting, meandering streets and bikes everywhere, Cambridge has something to capture the hearts of everyone. With a lively city centre and quaint suburbs, no matter the time of day Cambridge will welcome you with open arms.

Including a mixture of on-road and traffic-free routes including picturesque stretches next to the river, this remarkably flat area lends itself perfectly to relaxed cycling adventures with route 11 running closest to Willow Grange Farm but many other routes also found nearby.

Can be joined within a few miles of Willow Grange Farm

This 48-mile walk from Cambridge to Kings Lynn follows the River Great Ouse and River Cam along a mostly flat route, perfect for an amble with many pubs dotted along the way. With the local train services also following along the route of the river, this walk can be easily split into shorter sections, allowing you to choose your own distance and create a round trip via public transport.  

11.9 miles from Willow Grange Farm

This beautiful Jacobean-style house sits amongst beautiful gardens comprising of formal landscaping and natural habitats and boasts its own working watermill, all of which can be explored at leisure and makes for a great day out. With seasonal spectaculars such as the carpets of snowdrops, and a busy activities and events schedule throughout the year, check their website for tips on the best times to visit and what you can expect will be there to greet you.

4.5 miles from Willow Grange Farm

In tranquil surroundings with multiple waters to choose from, Waterbeach Angling Club is a welcoming carp and coarse fishing venue. With some lakes require pre-booking, we advise you visit their website to find out more if you’d like to fish whilst visiting our area.

18.9 miles from Willow Grange Farm

Hosting numerous race days, live music concerts and events across the Spring and Summer, Newmarket Races are the place to visit for a world of style and luxury. Prebooking is essential for all events, however if you wish to visit the area to see the imprint horseracing has on this Suffolk market town then there is a horseracing museum, local walks and independent shops to explore too.

Less than 1 mile from Willow Grange Farm

This mature lake of 2 ½ acres is over 35 years old and has 31 swims. The lake has many lilypads, rushes and shrubs around the edge and holds a good head of specimen fish. For fishing guidelines and tickets please visit their website, and please note night fishing is by prior arrangement only.
